No. 2 Darien vs. No. 6 St. Joseph • Watch game here!
The first game features Darien against No. 6 St. Joseph (11-9-1, 7-4-1 in the FCIAC), which beat the Fairfield co-op team, 2-0, on Saturday in a game broadcast live on the HAN Network. You can
One thing is for sure about Darien (17-3, 9-1): The Blue Wave are a Top 3 team in the state, according to various rankings. The Hartford Courant's hockey rankings list Darien third in its Top 10; the New Haven Register GameTimeCT poll has Darien ranked No. 1 despite a late-season loss to Greenwich; and based on the CIAC's powerpoint rankings, which is how the state tournament is seeded, the Blue Wave are No. 3 in Division I, Connecticut's top hockey class.
Darien and St. Joseph play in the first FCIAC boys ice hockey semifinal game, scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Watch it live (or later on-demand) at HAN.Network.
No. 1 Greenwich vs. No. 4 Ridgefield • Watch game here!
While the second playdown game on Saturday had a lot of tension, the first game did not. Ridgefield got off to an early lead and never looked back, cruising to a 4-0 win over New Canaan. You can watch the game on-demand here .
Greenwich (16-4, 10-1) is ranked in the Top 5 of three statewide polls. The Hartford Courant places the Cardinals as No. 2 in Connecticut (behind Xavier of Middletown); the Register's GameTimeCT poll has Greenwich in the third spot, behind Darien at No. 1 and Xavier at No. 2; and the CIAC's powerpoints rankings, has Greenwich seeded fifth for the upcoming Connecticut Division I tournament (which could change as conference tournaments progress this week).beat Darien in the last week of the regular season clinch the top seed in the FCIAC tournament. Darien won an earlier meeting between the two teams — but that game only counted toward state rankings, not the FCIAC. We broadcast the Blue Wave and Cardinals’ second regular-season showdown last week. You can watch it at this link.
Ridgefield (11-8-2, 8-4), which has had a streaky season, finds itself ranked among the top teams in Connecticut this week. The Tigers are 10th in the Courant's Top 10 rankings; ninth in the Register's; and is currently seeded 12th in the Division I state tournament.
Greenwich and Ridgefield play in the second FCIAC boys ice hockey semifinal game, scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Watch it live (or later on-demand) at HAN.Network.
