Children’s Department

The children’s department at Milford Public Library, 57 New Haven Ave., is holding events the next few weeks. For information call: 203-783-3304.

Preschool story time — Mondays and Tuesdays at 10 a.m. Stories and a craft. For ages 3 and up with a caregiver.

Saturday Storytime —  Toddler Time Saturday Oct. 18 at 10:30 a.m.

Lego build-a-thon — Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 5:30-7 p.m. For ages 5 and up.The library will provide the LEGO© bricks, you provide the imagination. Creations cannot be taken home, but may be displayed in the library.  This is a drop-in program, held the first Tuesday of every month, October-December.

Music Together — Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. Family music with a free demonstration of the Music Together program. For caregivers and children ages 0-5 to share music, instruments and movement together. Register, 203-783-3312.

Family Place — Play Group.  Space is still available for the Fall 2014 session. This four-week playgroup runs Thursdays Oct. 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 10:15-11:30 a.m. Registration is required.

Creative writing — Wednesdays beginning Oct. 15 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., for ages 9-12, until Nov. 19. Space is limited. Call 203-783-3312 to register.

Art walk — Wednesday, Oct. 15 at noon, a field trip to the Milford Arts Council. Meet at the library at noon and walk to the Milford Arts Council to share seasonal stories and create an art project. Bring your own lunch. Council will provide juice boxes. Register in the Children's Department or call 203-783-3312.

Toddler time — Saturday, Oct. 18 at 10:30 a.m. Share fingerplays, songs and stories. For ages 2 and under with a caregiver.

Not-so-spooky storytime — Saturday, Oct. 25 at 10:30 a.m. with author Janet Lawler. For pre-K and K-1 features Janet's two pop-up Halloween books. Kids may come dressed in their own not-so-scary costumes.

Note the change of Thursdays hours at the Woodmont Library, 16 Dixon St. Milford. Thursday: 10 a.m. to noon and 6:30 to 9 p.m.; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. Call 203-874-5675.

Chess — Chess Club for all ages — Thursdays, 3:30-5 p.m. Learn and/or play. No fee.

Mah Jongg — Free Mah Jongg classes for beginners, 10 a.m. Tuesdays. Pre-registration required in person at the library, 16 Dixon St. Woodmont, or call 203-874-5675 during library hours. Class size is limited, regiswtration first come, first served.
