Letters to the editor

Perhaps U.S. Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy don’t respect the “child” we have in the White House who only cares about the wealthy people in this country. I know Pres. Trump knows how to write his name when he signs a bill. He doesn’t have to hold it up to show us. If his health care bill passes I wonder if he’ll pay my mother’s nursing home bill?

I received a call about three weeks ago telling me I had won a sweepstakes of $700,000. I hung up. Two weeks ago, they called back and this time I listened to the whole spiel. My check had been delivered to the wrong address. They could get it to me in about two days. I received the tracking number: ASN8552GA. All I had to do was call a number in Florida with my information. There was a small fee of $1,225. I was then given a number to call back after I called Florida. Of course, I never called Florida.

I’m glad my mother raised me to be a “Doubting Thomasina.” If it sounds too good to be true, it is too good to be true. I haven’t heard from them again. I just hope other senior citizens don’t get caught up in this scam.
