Brrrrr.
Water temperatures were 36.2 degrees for Sunday’s Leprechaun Leap, the annual leap into Long Island Sound to benefit the Literacy Center of Milford.
“At least it isn’t snowing,” said Center Director Tami Jackson as the leapers began to take their positions.
Local groups, students, businesses and individuals — and at least one dog — took the plunge Sunday. Most participants wore something green, to acknowledge St. Patrick’s Day.
In addition to brave leapers, there were also a number of tailgaters at the Walnut Beach event.
Jackson said tailgating was added a few years ago to expand the event. This year, several groups came prepared to cook and stand ready with hot chocolate and hot soup.
