HARTFORD >> Jessica Brocksom, a student at John F. Kennedy School in Milford, was inaugurated Jan. 13 as the 2017 Connecticut’s Kid Governor at the Old State House downtown.

Jessica was sworn into office by Secretary of the State Denise Merrill.

Speakers included Gov. Dannel P. Malloy; U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn.; state Department of Education Commissioner Dianna Wentzell; state Sen. Gayle Slossberg, D-14, of Milford; state Rep. Kim Rose, D-118, of Milford; and state Rep. Pam Staneski, R-119, of Milford; and 2016 Connecticut’s Kid Governor Elena Tipton of East Hartford.

The classes of the final seven CKG election candidates participated in the events. They also toured the Old State House and took part in civics activities that focused on the three branches of state.
