Are you ready for fireworks in downtown Milford Thursday night?
Milford's fist Kick Off to Summer Blast will take place Thursday, July 2, from 4 to 11 p.m. at Lisman Landing Marina, with a fireworks extravaganza to light up the harbor at 9:15 p.m.
The event will feature two of the area's most popular bands: Flashback, who will take the stage at 5 p.m., followed by the RumRunners at 7 p.m.
Food trucks including Caseus, BRYAC Shuck Truck, Baked and Loaded, 744 Express, FireDogCT and Local Meatball, will be there serving-up tasty gourmet food, while Wines and More will be selling beverages.
Beer and wine will be sold from 4 to 10 p.m.
“The event should draw a fantastic crowd, with six food trucks, two great bands, and a fantastic fireworks show,” said event organizer Dan Worroll. “The boat slips at Lismans Landing are almost filled.”
Last year the city’s 375th anniversary committee had two events that featured fireworks and both drew a large crowd.
“The mayor asked me to head up an event to keep the fireworks etc as a yearly event,” Worroll said. “The last time that the City of Milford itself had an event like this with fireworks, I believe, was back in the early 80s from a barge near Charles Island.”
Donations from businesses and clubs provided the finances to make the event possible: Devon Rotary, The Milford Bank and Milford Shop-Rite. STAR 99.9 FM will attend the event.
Parking will be restricted at Fowler Field and at Lismans Landing. It is suggested that event goers find parking in Downtown Milford and walk to the event.
