Hope For The Warriors run honors military
SHELTON >> Hope For The Warriors eighth annual Sunset Run For The Warriors, with a 10K, 5K, 1-mile walk/run, and kids’ race, will be held at 5 p.m. Aug. 20.
Proceeds benefit Hope For The Warriors, a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, family, and hope to service members, their families and families of the fallen.
The race series is open to civilians and military members. It honors the men and women wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan and celebrates their strength and resolve. It also provides wounded service members encouragement and the opportunity to run, walk or cycle to assist in physical and emotional rehabilitation.
Opening ceremonies are at 4:30 p.m. on the Huntington Green, 19 Church St.
Registration is free for Gold Star Families and wounded service members and there is a discount for veterans, active-duty military members and students. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for the discount code.
All others, cost is $10-$30; children under 10 free.
Marking more than a 11 years of service, Hope For The Warriors assists veterans, service members and military families with a variety of programming including clinical health and wellness, sports and recreation, community and military relations and transition services.
