Heavy wind today means dangerous fire conditions

The emergency management area coordinator for the state has issued a red flag warning for all of Connecticut today due to high winds and low humidity, which combine for dangerous fire weather conditions.

The warning remains in effect until 6 p.m.

Winds are expected from the northwest at 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 30 to 45 mph. Relative humidity is 15 to 25 percent, with temperatures in the 50s to lower 60s.

“Any fires that develop may quickly get out of control and become difficult to contain,” officials said.
