MILFORD >> The 42nd annual Milford Oyster Festival comes to downtown 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Aug. 20.

Oyster Eve, the festival’s kickoff, is 6-10 p.m. Aug. 19 at Lisman Landing, on the harbor.

On Aug. 20, the festival offers free admission and free shuttle buses. Participants can also take the train to the station, one block from the Green.

For the first time, there will be two headline bands: Blue Oyster Cult and the Marshall Tucker Band, at the main stage at Fowler Field behind the Milford Public Library, 57 New Haven Ave.

Opening at noon will be the local Rum Runners. Blue Oyster Cult hits the stage at 2 p.m. and the Marshall Tucker Band at 3:45. At 3 p.m., the Lisman Landing harbor stage on Helwig Street will be headlined by Eaglemania, an Eagles’ tribute band. Opener will be Dizzy Fish at 12:45.

The event includes 200 arts and craft vendors on the Green, a big toys area, rides, a kids’ area, schooner cruises and the car show, in front of Milford Photo, 22 River St. There will be lots of food and more than 35,000 oysters with eating and shucking contests.

New this year is the two-day Craft Beer Garden serving nine beers from Two Roads, Black Hog Brewing Company and Harpoon at Lisman Landing, as well as premium wine. Oyster Eve is 6-10 p.m. Aug. 19 at Lisman Landing. There is a $5 cover and children under 14 are free. Kids can ride all night for $25.

Eaglemania, an Eagles’ tribute band, will perform. Craft beer, premium wine, oysters, food and a sunset schooner cruise are all on tap for the evening.
