The ducks are coming. On Sunday, May 3, the annual Milford Harbor Duck Race will be held in downtown Milford.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fowler Pavilion, located behind the Milford Public Library and next to the Wepawaug River.
The event will start at 11 a.m. with a craft fair, food, entertainment and thousands of rubber ducks. The day will include a Corporate Duck Race for businesses at noon with top prizes from Stonebridge Restaurant, AMF Milford Lanes, SBC Restaurant, Eli’s Tavern and Bin 100.
The signature Milford Harbor Duck Race will take place at 2 p.m. People of all ages typically flock to the river’s edge and watch a sea of yellow rubber ducks race down the falls, giving “duck owners” a chance to win one of 100 prizes. The race will be kicked off by a welcome from Milford Mayor Ben Blake.
Anyone can become a “duck owner” by purchasing duck raffle certificates for $5 each at one of many store locations including: Antelope Web, Café Atlantique, Canvas Patch, Colony Grill, Eli’s Tavern, Sweet Cupcasions, , Park Lane Deli, PC Richard’s, Rita’s Ice of Milford , Title Boxing Club, Valentine’s Diamond Center, Off the Hook Grill ( Milford and Stratford) Whole Foods and at the event itself.
The duck raffle certificates are numbered and will correspond with a number located on the bottom of each rubber race duck. As the ducks finish their race, they will soar through a funnel one by one. The first 100 ducks to finish the race will win their owners one of 100 raffle prizes, which include a Kissimee, Florida vacation at a private timeshare at Diamond Resorts, an Orlando, Florida vacation, a trip for a week to Flamingo Bay Resort in Las Vegas, and many more.
Race winners do not need to be present to win.
