Hamden synagogue presents eclectic Pharaoh’s Daughter in concert
HAMDEN >> The group Pharaoh’s Daughter, which blends Jewish musical styles with many world music genres, will perform at Congregation Mishkan Israel Saturday.
The annual cantor’s concert, a fund-raiser for the Reform synagogue, features Basya Schechter, who “leads her band … through swirling Hasidic chants, Mizrachi and Sephardi folk-rock, and spiritual stylings filtered through percussion, flute, strings and electronica,” according to the group’s website.
“An Evening of Hope and Joy,” presented by Cantor Arthur Giglio, begins at 7:30 p.m. at the synagogue located at 785 Ridge Road. All ages are welcome to attend. Tickets, which may be reserved at www.cmihamden.org, are $40 for adults and $10 for students and children over 5. Younger children may attend for free.
