Grade 2 teacher, secretary win praise
BETHANY >> The Bethany Public School District 2017 Teacher of the Year is second-grade teacher Maria LeVasseur and the 2017 Staff Member of the Year is school secretary Joanne Quarequio, Superintendent Colleen Murray announced.
• LeVasseur was chosen by her peers as an exceptional teacher for her contributions both in and out of the classroom and for the positive impact that she has had on teaching and learning.
LeVasseur has been a teacher for 20 years, 18 of which have been at BCS.
LeVasseur will be honored at a ceremony in November.
• Quarequio has been a member of the staff for 18 years in various support positions. She has been the school secretary for three years.
Quarequio eagerly greets everyone who comes to the school with a smile and makes sure the school day runs smoothly and efficiently.
