The Post Road is closed between 7-Eleven and Stuart White Tuesday afternoon as crews work to repair a broken gas main.
Firefighter Chris Zak said a construction crew working on the road broke the gas line with a backhoe.

Businesses in the area have been evacuated and will be closed until the situation is resolved.
Firefighters managed to stem the flow of gas somewhat using a cap, but could not completely seal the leak. At 4:30 p.m., gas company personnel were still working to plug the hole.
The accident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. The leak was apparent because of a loud hissing sound from the pipe, Zak said.
Firefighters could not say how long it will take for the gas company to completely seal the leak.
