Fund-raiser Monday for Bridge House waitress hit by car in August

A fund-raiser  is planned Monday, Oct. 10, from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Bridge House Restaurant to benefit Amanda Keane.

Keane, 34, is a Bridge House waitress who was hit by a car in August after leaving work.

Police said the accident occurred Sunday, Aug. 28, at about 10:45 p.m. in the area of Bridgeport Avenue and Woodland Avenue. They are still looking for the driver of the vehicle.

A witness told police that it was a dark colored sedan traveling eastbound on Bridgeport Avenue that struck Keane.

The witness told police that after the accident occurred the dark colored sedan fled the scene and headed eastbound.

The car involved in the accident would have damage to its right front headlight, bumper, right fender, and would be missing its passenger side right mirror, police said.

As of Tuesday, a gofundme page had raised almost $15,000 of $100,000 sought to help pay Keane’s medical bills. Several contributors noted her lively personality.

“My husband and I love when she waits on us — she’s hilarious and her laugh is infectious,” one contributor wrote. “I’ll be saying lots of prayers for her and her family.”

Another contributor noted that Keane had also worked at SBC in downtown Milford for 10 years.

The incident is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Milford Police Department, Traffic Division, at 203-878-5244. Reference Case #4833-16.

All proceeds from Monday’s fund-raiser will go to Keane and her family.

Tickets are $50 and include a meatloaf dinner, beer, wine, dessert and live music.

People planning to go should call the restaurant at 203-878-2800 or stop by the restaurant for a ticket.
