Residents who want to learn to surf will have a chance Saturday at Walnut Beach.
Events planned for International Surfing Day will take place at two Milford beaches Saturday and include free surfboard and Stand-Up Paddle lessons, beach clean-up, live surf music with hula-hooping, and horseshoe crab tagging


Sponsored by Surfrider Foundation's Connecticut Chapter and in cooperation with Sacred Heart University's Limulus Project, horseshoe crab tagging will begin at 10 a.m. at the Milford Audubon Center, 1 Milford Point Rd. Beach shoes are encouraged. All instruction and materials will be provided.
All other festivities begin at 1 p.m. at Walnut Beach, including free surf and Stand-Up Paddle lessons for all ages, a beach clean-up featuring the Plastic Bag Monster, live surf music by The Clams plus hula-hooping and DJ Zoloft.
