MILFORD — A free ice fishing class, hosted by the Department of Environmental and Energy Protection in conjunction with the Milford Recreation Department, is being offered Friday, Jan. 18, 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Margaret Eagan Center, Room 155.

Come learn about the exciting hobby of ice fishing. State certified and insured fishing instructors will teach everything you need to know to give ice fishing a try. Topics include ice safety, equipment and how to use it, understanding where to find fish, and fish identification.

Upon completion of the course, students will be welcome to join two DEEP sponsored ice fishing derbies. The class is free to all Connecticut residents. Pre-registration is required so that instructors may prepare materials. Families and children ages 10+ are encouraged to attend.

To pre-register, call Chris DeForge at 203-877-9092. Leave your name, contact information, and how many students you plan on bringing.
