Update: Fort Trumbull Beach is open to swimming following a closure late last week.
The Milford Health Department had closed Fort Trumbull Beach to swimming due to elevated bacteria levels in the water.
Health officials said that water samples collected July 7 and 9 indicated elevated levels.
On Saturday, the health department said water samples showed the bacteria levels had gone down and the water was safe for swimming.
