Football team collects items for troops at Friday's game
The Jonathan Law football team will collect personal care/toiletry items for troops and stateside veterans Friday night.
Personal-sized items such as toothpaste, soap and shampoo, as well as small comfort items such as dried coffee, candy and playing cards are in high need.
Anyone who brings one or more items to the Personal Care Drive at the Law vs. East Haven football game on Friday, Oct. 11 will get $1 off the price of their admission ticket. The game will be held at the Jonathan Law field.
“At Law, we often use the phrase 'Pride and Sacrifice' in our athletic programming - and we wanted to do something for those who know a lot about pride and sacrifice personally — our troops and our veterans,” said Mark Robinson, Law's head football coach.
The Law team also will wear camouflage uniform shirts the night of the game for an additional show of support.
The East Haven team is promoting the event, too, in the hopes that a large number of items will be collected that evening. Plans are in place to announce the names of active members of the armed forces (who are from Milford or East Haven) throughout the game to thank them for their service.
