First Baptist Church celebrates pastor's five-year anniversary this weekend

Celebrating five years of service with their Pastor, the First Baptist Church at 28 North Street will have a two day celebration this weekend honoring the Rev. Dr. Calvin E. Robinson, Jr.

On Saturday a luncheon was held at the Trumbull Marriott, featuring, among others, Mike Goodwin of Columbia, South Carolina, a Christian comedian, who "uses his comedic gift and wit in a style and delivery that is as clean as his bowties.”

On Sunday, June 30, at the 10:30 a.m. worship service at the church, Rev. Horace A. Hough of Messiah Baptist Church, Bridgeport will be the guest preacher. A reception will be held in the church fellowship hall immediately following the morning service.

Pastor Robinson, a native of Pamplico, South Carolina, also serves on several boards to help ensure that those who seek enhanced edification receive the very best. He is a member of the Connecticut State Missionary Baptist Convention where he serves as president of the Board of Trustees for the Christian Leadership School, and he serves as president of the Board of Christian Education for the Levite Association.

In addition, Pastor Robinson serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for Virginia University of Lynchburg in Lynchburg, Virginia. He is also a volunteer counselor for AIDS Interfaith in New Haven, and serves as a member of the Board of Directors for United Way of Milford. Robinson has a Masters of Arts degree in Procurement and Acquisitions Management from Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri. He and his wife, Ann, have three children and reside in Milford.
