Fireworks lit up the sky over the harbor in Milford Saturday night for the Kick Off to Summer event.

Rain seemed to be threatening on and off during the afternoon, but the event went off as planned, with only a few drops of rain falling as it came time for the fireworks display.

Kick Off to Summer also featured music and food trucks in and around Lisman Landing.

"The event was fantastic," said Dan Worroll, who organizes the event on behalf of the city with financial support from local businesses. "For several days I was checking on the weather every four hours. We made a decision to go ahead with the event at 10 a.m. [Saturday]. Most other cities cancelled their events.

"Good crowd, lots of food trucks and great music," Worroll added. "All the slips at the marina were filled. Planning on having the event next year also. It's all based on the donations we receive from businesses."
