Milford Fire dispatch received a 911 call from a boater in distress at about 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The caller stated that he was duck hunting in a small vessel and unable to return to shore. The boat’s motor was unable to overcome a strong tide that was causing the vessel to drift out into Long Island Sound.

The Milford Fire Department Marine 2 unit was dispatched along with a Car 4 and Quint 5 to provide assistance.

The boater was found approximately three miles offshore when the Fire Department Marine unit made contact. The vessel operator was taken on board Milford’s Marine 2 and was not suffering any injuries.

The boat was towed back the Anchor Beach shoreline and did not sustain any damage.
