English language lessons offered at workplace
The Literacy Center of Milford is offering a workplace literacy program for businesses who employee non-English speaking adults.
Program content includes English language skills, reading and writing, workplace culture and curriculum centered around the work environment.
“The center is excited to bring tutors to a workplace and offer support so there is better communication between employees and staff,” said Tami Jackson, the center’s executive director. “By providing workplace literacy programs we are helping immigrants to integrate into their work environment and into their communities.”
Currently the Literacy Center is tutoring two classes at Orchid Orthopedic Solutions. The employees like the class because they can attend immediately after a shift.
The Literacy Center of Milford is a non-profit organization that provides services at no cost to any individual who wishes to learn the English language or enhance their reading, writing, speaking and math skills necessary to lead productive lives in the community.
