Eastbound Theatre, a division of the Milford Fine Arts Council, in collaboration with the Westport Community Theatre, announce auditions for Eastbound Summer 2014: "One For The Road".
Auditions for the annual one act play festival will be held on June 30th and July 1 at the Margaret Egan Center, 35 Mathews Street in Milford. Additionally, interested actors who may be unable to attend those audition times should contact Producer Tom Rushen at zenripple@yahoo.com to set up an alternate time.
Performances will be July 25-27th, 2014 at the Milford Center for the Arts, 40 Railroad Avenue South in Milford; and August 1-2 at Westport Community Theatre. Performance times in Milford will be 8pm on Friday and Saturday and 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. Performance times in Westport will be 8 PM both evenings.
Roles are available for 14 actors, 8 male and 6 female. Ages range from 20s to 60s and actors will be asked to read sides from the scripts. Actors interested in reviewing sides in advance should contact Producer Tom Rushen at zenripple@yahoo.com.

Driving Green, by Martin Blank of Bethesda, Maryland features a politically opposite couple has their relationship tested by their new hybrid car.
Initial Descent, by Allston James of New York, NY finds two strangers on a long flight struggle to find some common ground to pass the time.
The Last Time, by Michael Burgan of Santa Fe, NM, tells the story of former spouses meet for the last chance to end on a good note.
A Place that Looks Like Davenport, by Paul Lewis of Seattle, WA, features a minor league baseball player facing the consequences of an unexpected turn of events.
Sundown, by Ray Arsenault of Haverhill, MA, shows a jogger who crosses paths with a stranger on a different kind of road.
Welfare, by Anne Flanagan of Los Angeles, CA, features a downsized career counselor who has an opportunity to help one last client before she leaves.
The one-act play fest has operated for 14 years as part of the New England Arts and Crafts Festival. “Under the umbrella of that festival,“ says Rushen; “we were limited to one hour matinee performances. Spinning off into an independent festival, devoted exclusively to theatre, we're able to expand both the number and the variety of selections. We will be performing six short pieces as full productions, and also including a couple of readings. We received 234 submissions from across the US, plus Brazil, Australia and New Zealand, so it's nice to be able to get that global cross-section as well.”
A $10.00 donation will be suggested for this year's performances. “A portion of that will go to the continued upgrade and operations at the Milford Arts Center,” Rushen explains. “But we also hope to return some of that to the playwrights, to recognize the time and energy they have put into their work.”
