Several Bob’s Stores and Eastern Mountain Sports locations in Connecticut were given permission to begin holding closing sales this week, according to bankruptcy court documents.

Eastern Outfitters, the parent company of Bob’s and EMS, filed for bankruptcy Feb. 5.

It has 86 retail locations for family and outdoor apparel in the Northeast and employs about 2,600 people, according to court documents.

The company plans to close nine Bob’s Stores in Connecticut: Hamden, Middletown, Enfield, Danbury, Milford, Simsbury, Manchester, Waterford and Fairfield.

EMS stores in Fairfield and Buckland Hills also are slated to close, bankruptcy court documents filed last week said.

Stores in neighboring states are also slated to close: eight in New York and nine in Massachusetts.
