NORTH STONINGTON — A child has died, and three other people were hospitalized, after a boat capsized in Wyassup Lake on Friday evening, according to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

DEEP Environmental Conservation Police were called on a report of an overturned boat in the lake near North Stonington at about 5:15 p.m. Four people, including two juveniles, were on the vessel when it capsized and were thrown into the water, according to DEEP spokesperson Will Healey.

Emergency personnel administered CPR to a child at the scene, he said. The four were then taken to Westerly Hospital in Rhode Island, where one juvenile was pronounced dead, Healey said.

DEEP’s Environmental Conservation Police were investigating the incident.
