Connecticut Sports Talk, Mar. 9
It's the last show of the week on Nutmeg Sports, and Dave Stewart makes his usual Wednesday visit to join Rob Adams. On this edition of the show, the guys talk about the state tournaments in boys and girls basketball and hockey.
To open the show, Rob and Dave look back at some of the dramatic action in boys basketball. In Class LL, both Greenwich and Ridgefield escaped with overtime wins. Matt Bartolucci's three with 10 seconds to play lifted the Tigers over Xavier, while Conor Harkins' three at the buzzer moved the Cardinals past Stamford. We have video of both big shots, courtesy of Game Time CT and the Greenwich Sentinel.
Greenwich is also active in girls basketball, moving onto their first semifinal, but nobody seems to remember the last time they played in the semis. The Cardinals play EO Smith on Friday for the right to "Run to the Sun."
Hockey also gets its due on this edition, as Rob and Dave break down Division I. It seems the consensus is that Greenwich, Darien, and Notre Dame-West Haven will make it to the Yale Whale. But what about Xavier and Fairfield Prep? Rob and Dave also look at Divisions II and III.
