Connecticut Sports Talk, Mar. 21

Rob Adams and Donald Eng begin the week with a review of all things Connecticut Sports.

The CIAC championships wrapped up over the weekend, and the FCAIC brought four state titles home in boys hockey and girls basketball.

On the ice, Darien assured themselves the top spot in the state with a decisive Division I championship win over Fairfield Prep. It's the second D-I title in a row for the Wave. Steve Buono from the Darien Times shot video of the game, including interviews, and the team reception upon their return to Darien. Highlights of Steve's work are included in this edition of Nutmeg Sports. More videos can be found at the Darien Times' website.

The Blue Wave weren't the only FCIAC champions. Westhill-Stamford and Staples-Weston-Shelton met in a thriller for Division III. A late Nick Rich goal (his third) brought the title to Stamford after a furious third period rally by the Wreckers. In Division II, the Fairfield co-op finished their championship with a Jake Fuss goal in overtime.

But wait, as the saying goes, there's more! In Class LL girls basketball, Stamford bested Greenwich in a battle of two teams playing for their first championship.

Rob and Don break that down, plus a lot more.
