Connecticut Sports Talk, Mar. 16
Staples-Weston-Shelton (SWS) and Woodstock Academy played a wild Div. III semifinal game at Ingalls Rink in New Haven. When all was said and done, SWS had rallied from a 5-3 deficit to win 6-5 in overtime. Mike Suppe was there, representing the Shelton Herald, and he stopped by Nutmeg Sports to talk with Rob Adams and Dave Stewart.
Rob and Dave also broke down the start times for the basketball finals at Mohegan Sun. While Dave thinks the girls shouldn't have to wait over a week between the semis and the championship, and Rob agrees, Rob also thinks that the CIAC did a disservice to two teams from southwestern Connecticut. Greenwich and Stamford -- both of whom are playing in their first state title games -- are scheduled to tip off at 3 p.m. on Sunday. That seems like a long drive for both teams on a Sunday night.
The FCIAC will be well represented in hockey as well, with SWS, Westhill-Stamford, Fairfield, and possibly Darien all playing in the finals. Rob and Dave break that all down, with an assist from Mike.
Finally, it's the eve of March Madness starting, and the guys give their predictions. Without giving anything away, Michigan State is a popular pick.
