Connecticut Sports Talk, June 13
It's over. The high school season has come to a close as the CIAC named their champions in baseball, softball, lacrosse, and volleyball over the weekend.
AJ Szymanowski, as well as Dave Stewart and Steve Buono, went to Jonathan Law High School to watch Darien and New Canaan claim their crowns in girls lacrosse, while the Blue Wave and Rams also picked up titles in boys lacrosse. Those games were played at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk.
It looks like Fitch was named the team to beat in the Game Time CT poll. What do Rob and Don think? Should Cheshire be the top team?
Richard Brereton of Darien is the guest on this edition of the show. Richard, a senior, was the FCIAC baseball championship game most valuable player, but he has some exciting plans for the summer. Richard, a native of England, will be representing Great Britain in a European baseball tournament and he breaks it all down for Rob and Don.
We finish our Monday program with highlights (courtesy of Fox 61 and Sean Patrick Bowley -- thanks) of baseball from Palmer Field in Middletown. There ware two "walk off" wins, dramatic home runs, extra innings, and a winner for the first time in 45 years. Rob and Shawn Sailer were at the Class LL game between Farifield Warde and Amity. Rob breaks down the wet and wild game.
Plus Athletes of the Week are back for a recount!
