Connecticut Sports Talk, Feb. 29
The leap day edition of Nutmeg Sports kicks off with Rob Adams and Donald Eng reviewing the choices for the FCIAC girls ice hockey all-FCIAC team. Of course, some of the names are not a surprise, such as Georgia Cassidy of Darien and Catherine Granito of New Canaan. The full list can be found over at fciac.net.
After that, Rob and Don review the FCIAC girls basketball championship, including highlights from a good night at Fairfield Ludlowe High School. Stamford defeated Warde for their first championship game win, with Tiana England taking the game over in the second half.
Scott Ericson of the Stamford Advocate joins the guys to recap the wild Saturday of boys basketball at Fairfield Warde. Scott explains why a Trumbull player was ejected, and how unacceptable the behavior was. But Scott preferred to talk about the players that deserved the attention, and there were four good basketball games to talk about, including overtime games. Most notably, the game between Warde and Wilton, where near buzzer beaters decided the contest.
Later on, Rob and Don present highlights from the three hockey games in Stamford, including the girls FCIAC championship between New Canaan and Darien.
Last week's HAN Network/FCIAC athletes of the week are named also!
