Concussions and youth sports, mileage tax talk, CT at the RNC
This week, we discuss a number of topics, including concussions in youth sports, heroin and Connecticut up front at Republican National Convention. Watch the show below:
Up first, HAN Sports Director Frank Granito shares his interview with Masuk High football star Casey Cochran. Casey talks about what inspired him to post the article on The Players’ Tribune and what life is like after concussions. From his first concussion at age 11 in youth football up to this 13th at the age of 20 at as the starting quarterback for the University of Connecticut, Casey describes the difficulties of not only dealing with his symptoms but also the hardships of guilt from hiding so many of them. Casey talks about his trip before the Connecticut Senate and his push for a bill to raise awareness of the dangers of concussions, and preaches how important it is at the youth level.
Later, we discuss a New Canaan Advertiser story that looks at the tragic way addiction has impacted one family's life. We talk with reporter Rich Durazzo.
On This week's Talking Transportation, Jim Cameron gives more details on the proposed mileage tax.
Connecticut has a prominent spot at the RNC this week.
