The North Street duck pond was frozen Sunday, and skaters and ice hockey players were out there enjoying the surface.
One Milford resident, in his 50s, said he remembers that as a kid growing up in Milford, the pond froze often, and children would actually lace up their skates, hop onto the frozen Wepawaug River and skate it all the way to the duck pond. Firefighters would go at night and spray a coat of water on the pond so there was a fresh, smooth covering of ice in the morning.
Do you have memories of times spent skating on the city's duck pond in the winter? If you do, the staff at the Mirror would love it if you shared them. Email your recollections to milfordmirror@hersamacorn.com.
