MILFORD >> Nothing says summer quite like eating seafood out of a paper basket on the water.

From fried clam strips to fish and chips and lobster rolls, here are some of the top Yelp-reviewed casual seafood joints in southwestern Connecticut.

The top spot, according to Yelpers, is 7 Seas Restaurant in Milford, a staple that has been around for more than 50 years.

The menu is a classic buffet of fried seafood, stuffed clams, New England clam chowder and bar food for the land lubbers all served in a dark, wood-paneled pub that brings you back to the ’70s.

The simplest, most mouth-watering way to prepare a catch of fresh shrimp? A classic, old-fashioned shrimp boil.

It’s most famous for its lobster rolls.

“I was craving a lobster roll and this place did not disappoint. I could barely finish it the portion was so big but I wasn’t leaving any behind bc the flavor was so good. My first time visiting ... def not my last,” one Yelp reviewer wrote.

“We come yearly for the lobster rolls. The single is a mound of buttery lobster with a pile of golden steak fries. I’ve had the fish and chips before and it is delicious. A large filet with a crunchy crust and again a pile of golden fries ... 7 Seas is an iconic Milford gem. I will return again before the summer is out!” another posted.
