City grant coordinator named December's employee of the month

Sheila Dravis, Milford’s community block grant coordinator, received the Mayor’s Employee of the Month award for December.

After a review of all of the nominations, a selection committee unanimously chose her as the winner for consistently providing a high level of service in her position in the city’s community development office.

Dravis began her career with the City of Milford on April 12, 2005. This past September, she was selected to serve in an acting capacity as the Community Development Block Grant coordinator.

In a prepared statement, Mayor Ben Blake said that Dravis has helped process applications and helped residents recover after Storm Sandy, which hit in October of 2012.

“With the monumental mission of applying for and administering grants to rebuild and harden our shoreline, Sheila assists our residents in the rebuilding of their homes and lives,” Blake’s proclamation in Dravis’ honor reads.

“Sheila has demonstrated that she is an invaluable asset assisting the various city departments and residents in moving forward with the application process for the grants,” the proclamation continues.

Dravis compiles the data for the applications of various individual and municipal grants.

“Her positive attitude and approachable nature make her a great part of the team,” according to her coworkers.
