The fourth annual Charles Island Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Cup will take place at Walnut Beach Saturday, June 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The race is hosted by Scoot & Paddle of Milford and the Surfrider Foundation of Connecticut.

Stand up paddleboard and kayak races will include the Elite-5 Miles, the Charles Island Challenge; the Recreational– 2.25 Miles, Land Ho; The Youth– .5 Mile, Arrr Matey, and the Technical M Course for qualifying elite racers.

Racers must sign up at paddleguru.com. There is no registration the day of the event.

The event also includes a free community beach day, including SUP Yoga at 8 a.m. and beach yoga at 9 a.m. A live band, “Commercial Interruption,” will perform.

There will be four massage tables, a Reiki practitioner, psychic readings, pilates demonstrations and more.

An interactive Polynesian dance performance by Kaiholounie Dance Co. will take beachgoers on a tour of the Polynesian islands through interactive dance and song. The performers bring multiple costumes with full headdress of feathers and colors.

There will be giveaways at an REI tent, as well as free SUP lessons, hula hooping, beach games, a kids craft tent, silent auction baskets, food trucks and vendors.

There will be free camping at the site, and a bonfire on the beach Saturday evening.

Brian Smith, formerly of Smith & Barber in the Morning, will be the master of ceremonies.
