Ceremony will honor WWII women veterans

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of military women veterans, the Connecticut veteran service organizations are planning to host an awards ceremony in celebration and honor of all World War II women veterans.

Applications for the Connecticut Veterans Wartime Service Medal are available at the office of the City Clerk located in the City of Milford Parsons Government Complex, 70 West River St.

For women World War II veterans who died after Jan. 1, 1990, family members may apply on their behalf posthumously. A valid Discharge Certificate and Death Certificate must be presented and the veteran must have been a resident of Connecticut during their period of wartime service. Applications and supporting documentation must be submitted to: The Department of  Veterans Affairs, Attn: Wartime Medial and Registry, 287 West Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.

The date, time and location of the ceremony will be released at a later date.
