The Milford Police Department is investigating thefts from vehicles in the areas of Commodore Place, Captains Walk, Wilbar Avenue, Seaview Avenue and Sand Street in Milford.

Police said targeted vehicles were left unlocked prior to the thefts taking place. Coins, glasses, music CDs and a camera were taken from the vehicles. The thefts appeared to have occurred overnight on Aug. 5 to Aug. 6 between 10 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to keep their car doors locked, remove valuable items from their vehicles, take advantage of outdoor lighting and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods to the police department, police said.

A crime advisory message was sent through the “Milford Alerts” system, advising residents of the incidents and encouraging them to report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods. Residents not registered with the citywide notification system can register by visiting www.milfordpd.org and click on the “Milford Alerts” banner.
