Car break-ins reported in Meadowside area of Milford

More vehicle break-ins have been reported in Milford: Police say that on Sunday, at least 24 vehicles were broken into in the area of Meadowside Road and Seaside Avenue.

Various items were taken from the cars, police said.

Several home surveillance systems captured images of the individuals involved, showing three to four men in their late teens to 20s walking from residence to residence checking for unlocked vehicle doors, police said.

“When a vehicle was found to be unlocked, the suspect would rummage through the vehicle, taking items from inside,” police said in a prepared statement.

The investigations into the break-ins are active and ongoing. If anyone has any information they are asked to contact the Milford Police Department 203-878-6551.

This isn’t the first time that the Meadowside area has been targeted by car vandals.

The Meadowside area was the target of a rash of car break-ins in June of 2014. At that time, fires were set inside a number of the vehicles.

Earlier this month, there was a rash of vehicle break-ins in north Milford, when a bulletproof vest and AR-15 rifle were stolen from the locked trunk of a marked Connecticut State Police cruiser on Rutland Road.

A car was also stolen during the March 7 break-ins in the northern part of the city, in the area of Haystack Road, Cornfield Drive and West Rutland Road. The car was reportedly recovered later in New Haven.
“The Milford Police Department would like to remind residents to lock their vehicle doors and take all valuable items out of the vehicle when not occupied,” police said in a prepared statement.
