CT Pulse: state Sen. Hwang, tops news and editorial cartoons

CT Pulse, a show on politics, what’s trending in the Constitution state and more, airs Wednesdays at 12:30. Watch it on demand later, or see this week’s show below:

CT Pulse is hosted by Kate Czaplinski and Josh Fisher, both former Connecticut newspaper editors. Josh is HAN's executive producer and Kate is news director.

It’s Opening Day up in Hartford for the General Assembly and on Monday we recorded an interview with State Sen.Tony Hwang of Fairfield about how GE leaving could affect area nonprofits, the state budget, state and presidential politics.  State Sen. Hwang represents the 28th District, which includes Fairfield, Newtown, Easton, Weston and Westport.

We also highlight some stories grabbing our attention, including the New Haven line setting an all-time record for ridership, an off-ice youth hockey injury causing some commotion and debate in Ridgefield, a high school sexting scandal that shocked many in a quiet community and a Santeria practitioner arrested in Bridgeport.

Later in the show, Editorial Cartoonist Doug Smith will share his sometimes twisted sense of humor with us, as we look at what topics he tackles in his editorial cartoons this week. He discusses some cartoons that never made it to print and why.
