Charles Corell, a Milford building inspector, has been selected as employee of the month for March.
After a review of all of the nominations, the Employee of the Month Selection Committee unanimously chose Corell as the winner for his professionalism, outstanding customer service and for exceeding expectations regarding his work performance and safety consciousness, city officials said.
Corell began his employment with the City of Milford as a Building Inspector B on April 12, 2010. He was promoted to Building Inspector A on July 1, 2011.
Corell’s job responsibilities are multifaceted. As an inspector, he is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of construction in the city comply with the State Building Code. As an inspector it falls upon Corell to keep Milford residents, visitors and business owners safe through his review of permit applications and field inspections.
“Charlie is the consummate team player,” city officials said in a press release. “Whenever the building inspection division is shorthanded, Charlie always steps up to take on additional work to keep the permitting and inspection process moving forward.”
His friendly and respectful demeanor, along with his sense of humor, put customers at ease, his co-workers said.
“Whether he is working with a contractor, a business or a homeowner, Charlie is skilled at effectively communicating the technical nuances of the building code so that projects advance,” city officials said. “While assisting customers in a friendly manner, Charlie is always mindful of his responsibilities to public safety and code compliance.”
