PENDLETON, N.Y. (AP) — A 40-year-old man died after a boat struck a metal beam in a creek near Buffalo, police said.

Jason Stubla fell out of the boat Saturday morning after it struck a metal support beam to a covered boat launch in Tonawanda Creek. The boat then veered across the creek and ended up on an embankment, according to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.

Two women injured in the crash were able to exit the damaged boat. Stubla, a resident of nearby Amherst, was recovered from the water by emergency responders and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both unidentified women were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation was continuing.
