The Milford Oyster Festival will host two headline bands this year, Blue Oyster Cult and The Marshall Tucker Band.

Both bands will appear on the Festival Main Stage on Saturday, August 20.

“The committee is very excited to bring festival goers two top tier rock bands all in one day,” said Jay Pinto, Oyster Festival President.

Blue Oyster Cult is an American rock band from Long Island, New York, whose most successful work includes the hard rock and heavy metal songs "(Don't Fear) The Reaper", "Godzilla" and "Burnin' for You". Since the release of their debut album in 1972, the band has sold over 24 million albums worldwide, including 7 million in the United States alone.

The band's music videos, especially "Burnin' for You", received heavy rotation on MTV when the music television network premiered in 1981, cementing the band's contribution to the development and success of the music video in modern pop culture.

The Marshall Tucker Band is an American Southern rock/country rock band originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina. The band's blend of rock, rhythm and blues, jazz, country, and gospel helped establish the Southern rock genre in the early 1970s. "Fire On The Mountain," "Can't You See," and "Take The Highway,” earned The Marshall Tucker Band seven gold and three platinum albums.

Opening for the headlining bands will be The RumRunners, one of Connecticut's favorite rock cover bands. Originally from New Haven and Milford the band was formed in 1998.
