MILFORD — Incumbent Mayor Ben Blake dominated at the ballot box Tuesday, earning a sixth term as Democrats appeared to retain control over the city’s boards and commissions.
Blake — the Democratic leader who has authored six consecutive tax rate decreases — topped Republican challenger Peter Berube. Official results were not immediately available.
“It’s a great honor to be elected as mayor for sixth time,” Blake said. “Thank you for your trust and we will work hard to keep and earn your trust.”
Berube acknowledged just before 10 p.m. that it was “not the result that we wanted.”
“My goal with my entire campaign was to have a more balanced board of aldermen, planning and zoning and board of education,” he said.
