BETHANY >> Eleven students from Amity Middle School were recognized by the Connecticut Writing Project that sponsors the Connecticut Student Writers magazine.

Three honored writers and two artists’ original work will be published in the 2017 magazine. The students are seventh-graders Ashley Dorais, Nora Youtz and Maggie Liu, and eighth-graders, Allison Su and Wendy Zhang.

Middle schoolers received six honorable mentions: Zachary Garfinkle, Laurel Maus, Kaitlyn Pryor, Gabrielle Wincherhern and Alice Youtz from Grade 7, and Natalie Wang from Grade 8.

The Connecticut Writing Project will honor the students May 11 at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts, at the University of Connecticut, Storrs. Some writers will represent their grade by reading their winning entries, and all writers, featured artists and their teachers will be presented with certificates and copies of the magazine.
