Beach Avenue, band with Milford ties, on NBC's 'America's Got Talent'

Local New Haven area band Beach Avenue, with ties to Milford, is on Season 9 of NBC's America's Got Talent and their Hollywood audition will be airing Tuesday, July 1 at 8 p.m.

The band started when the members lived in a house together on Beach Avenue in Milford in 2011.

The band was flown out to Hollywood to perform their new original song “Coming Your Way” in front of celebrity judges Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Mel B, according to band member Ryan Zipp.

The band formed in the summer of 2011 to perform at Mohegan Sun's annual regional Battle of the Bands, according to the band’s website.

After passing through quarter finals and semi finals, Beach Avenue took first place in the finals to win the competition. As a result, the band earned a headlining spot at the casino's Wolf Den venue to kick off 2012.

Next the band entered Firehouse 12 Studio in New Haven to record their debut EP “Something To Believe In.” After a busy year of promoting their album and performing throughout Connecticut, Beach Avenue released their newest EP “Driving That Road” in the summer of 2013.

The band has opened for artists such as: Third Eye Blind, Jefferson Starship, STYX, REO Speedwagon, Sammy Adams, Bad Rabbits, Jeffrey Gaines, Bronze Radio Return, Alternate Routes and others.

The band consists of Nick Fradiani, vocals and guitar; Nick Abraham, lead guitar and vocals; Ryan Zipp, drums; and Nick Fradiani Sr., keyboards and vocals.
