Lakeview Lodge opening, Bethany pride apparel available

Household Hazawaste Central

The Regional Water Authority's hazardous waste collection center opened last Saturday May 13 and will be open most Saturdays through the end of October from 9 a.m. to noon. Last year the center collected and properly disposed of 77,000 gallons of household waste from over 5,600 households from the 16-town region. The goal of the decade old program for member residents is to dispose of chemicals properly that could be harmful to the environment. Many chemicals can pollute the land and water supplies if dumped in with regular garbage or disposed of in storm drains or sinks. Protect our wells and the regional water supply; bring your household hazardous waste to the collection center at the Regional Water Authority, 90 Sargent Drive, New Haven.

Bethany pride apparel

Many residents have admired my Bethany Schoolhouse denim shirt and asked where I purchased it, so they could have one of their own. Bethany Pride Apparel is available through the Bethany Community School PTO. In addition to the adult long sleeve denim shirt they have short sleeve tees and denims for children, tote bags and hats. All of the items feature the 1834 One Room Schoolhouse. Susan Wolanic donated the artwork. Contact any of the committee members for more information: May Lea Blake 393-0553, Peggy Choiniere 393-3477, Charlene Schuchmann 393-9471 or Cindy Smernoff 393-3391. All profits help to support Community School PTO activities.

Bethany arts league

Lakeview Lodge grand opening

I would like to invite all Bethany residents to the grand opening of Lakeview Lodge at 11 a.m. Saturday May 27. It was about a year ago that the swimming area at the lake was opened so it only follows that the lodge should be ready this year. The building committee deserves a tremendous amount of credit for their time spent and completing the project in such a timely manor. My personal thanks go to Chairman Bob Brinton Sr., Jean Matson and Bill Phillee. They have taken the plans and dreams of the Veterans Park Study Committee and made it a reality. Plan on joining the committee for the Grand Opening, light refreshments will be served.
