Auto repo firm buys land in Milford
An auto repossession firm purchased nearly two acres of land on Shelland Street for the purpose of building a facility there.
Skyline Recovery Service which has offices in East Hartford, Waterbury and Plainfield paid $455,000 for the property owned by Jordan Realty, according to Barbara L. Pearce, president and chief executive officer of Pearce Real Estate headquartered in North Haven. John Bergin and Frosty Smith of Pearce/George J. Smith Commercial represented the seller. Smith also represented the buyer.
Pearce said Frank Fournier III of Skyline has received approval from the Milford Planning and Zoning board to build a 2,400 square foot building and establish an outside storage and auto repossession yard on the site.
Shelland Street is off Bic Drive near the power plant.
Skyline which is based in Easthampton, Mass. has been in the recovery business for 22 years, according to their website. They specialize in repossessing all types of motorized vehicles, as well as industrial and construction equipment.
They intend to construct a prefabricated barn red metal building on the site. They plan to employ four office workers and six drivers while parking a flatbed trailer, two wreckers and two spotter cars on the site.
Currently they have a facility on Raton Drive which is the subject of a court suit. The sale and move is expected to settle the matter..
