Arts, crafts festival set for Aug. 7
MILFORD >> The 18th annual Walnut Beach Arts & Crafts Festival will be held 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 7.
Artists, crafters, a new expanded food court, entertainment will be at the Pavilion in the Walnut Beach Grove, 113 E. Broadway and Viscount Drive, across the street from the Walnut Beach public beach.

Theater announces auditions for September show
MILFORD >> Eastbound Theatre, a division of the Milford Arts Council, announces auditions for the first show of its 23rd season, the “Fox on the Fairway,” by Ken Ludwig, directed by Kevin Pelkey.
Performances will be Sept. 30 through Oct. 16.
Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. July 28 at the Margaret Egan Center, 35 Mathew St.
Also, interested actors who may be unable to attend those audition times may contact the producer Michael Shavel at firstname.lastname@example.org to set up an alternate.
Roles are available for three men and three women, all ages 20s-40s. Actors will be asked to read sides from the script. To review the script in advance, contact the director at Kevin.Pelkey@icasoftware.com.

Tango fest in Milford stars world champions
MILFORD >> Tango Sueño Academy and the Milford Arts Council present the ninth Connecticut Tango Festival with world champion Argentine Tango Masters Manuela Rossi and Juan Malizia, of Buenos Aires, at the Milford Center for the Arts, 40 Railroad Ave. S. Local events will include a boot camp, Tango Passion Show and tango workshops.
• Friday, July 29: Tango Passion Show, 8 p.m., $38, $42. Musicians: Raul Jaurena, bandoneon, Marga Mitchell, voice, Maurizio Najt, piano. Dancers: Manuela Rossi and Juan Malizia, Grupo Folklorico Rio de la Plata, Tango Sueño Performance Group.

Mic Nites open to all performers
MILFORD >> The Milford Arts Council presents Open Mic Nites at 7-10 p.m. Wednesdays, through Aug. 10, at the Milford Center for the Arts, 40 Railroad Ave. S.
Registration starts at 6 p.m. and all performing arts are welcome: singers, musicians, comedians, poets, magicians.
Performances will be judged, and the series winner wins a spot on the Oyster Festival’s Lisman Landing stage.
Dave’s Traveling Gourment food truck will be on hand starting at 5:30 p.m. beside the patio. Beverages, beer and wine will be sold inside the venue.There is a door fee of $5.

Woodbridge seeks photo submissions
WOODBRIDGE >> The town is calling for photo submissions to be used in various media including social media, the town website and printed materials.
“I want our town communication vehicles to be as beautiful as our town,” said First Selectman Ellen Scalettar.
“This call for photographs ties in to my priority to improve communications and build community by recognizing some of our talented residents,” she said.
Submit a favorite high resolution digital photograph — vertical or horizontal — to Betsy Yagla at email@example.com.
Photos may be of any Woodbridge location in any season. If people appear in the photo, photographers must include their permission to be represented for this purpose.
When practical, photos that are published will be credited with the photographer’s name. Identify the location of a submission and how the name should appear if a photo is used.
