MILFORD — The Milford Arts Council is seeking donations of artwork for a small-works auction to benefit the Milford Center for the Arts programs.

Sought: original works that are 5-by-7 or smaller, two-dimensional, no sculpture. Framing is optional, but all work must have a method to hang it. Artists may submit as many works as they would like. Work sought is painting, photography, drawings, collage, encaustic and mixed media.

Art donations are tax deductible. All artwork will be offered at $15 to start with $2 increments during the silent auction.

Artwork will be received through Nov. 11.

The auction will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Milford Center for the Arts, 40 Railroad Ave. S. There will be music, food and drink.

MILFORD — The Milford Center for the Arts, in association with Pantochino Productions Inc., will present Tori Scott of New York for an evening of music and comedy at 8 p.m. Nov. 4.

The center at 40 Railroad Ave. S., will be set with tables and chairs inviting patrons to bring the food and drink of their choice.

MILFORD — LiVE @ the MAC concert series presents guitarist Doug Munro and La Pompe Attack at 8 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Milford Center for the Arts, 40 Railroad Ave. S.

Since 1987, Munro has released 17 albums as a leader and has appeared on more than 75 recordings as a sideman, producer and arranger working with a diverse array of artists including Dr. John, Michael Brecker, BB King, Darlene Love and Dr. Lonnie Smith. He has released recordings in many jazz styles including soul-jazz, organ trio, Latin and Gypsy jazz.

He has received two Grammy nominations and two NAIRD awards. The concert is cabaret seating. Wine, beer, soft drinks and snacks are available for purchase. Tickets are $20 and $15 for MAC members.

MILFORD — The Milford Camera Club welcomes photographers of any age interested in the art of photography at the Margaret Egan Center, 35 Mathew St., at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays until May.

Learn how to use your camera, how to take better pictures, and meet people with similar photo experience. MILFORD — New England Guitar Society opens its International Guest Guitarist series with Andrew Leonard at 8 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Milford Center for the Arts, 40 Railroad Ave. S.

Tickets are $20, $15 MAC members, $18 seniors, free for 15 or younger.

Leonard will present classical guitar music by Carver Blanchard, Andrew York, Carlo Domeniconi and Francisco Tarrega, as well as arrangements from Leo Kottke, Bach and Albeniz.

He will also give a master class at 2 p.m. Nov. 12, at the MAC.

MILFORD — Milford Arts Council’s Firehouse Art Gallery, 81 Naugatuck Ave., will present “Visual Music an Abstractions Exhibition.”

The exhibit will explore the world of abstract art, following in the footsteps of great nonobjective artists like Wassily Kandinsky, Der Blaue Reiter, and the abstract expressionist Jackson Pollock. So, give us the best example of your work in this truly imaginative subject. Our juror for this exhibition is Paul Bayloc. Entry fees are $25 for one or two entries and $20 for council members.

The opening reception will be 6-8 p.m. Nov. 9.

MILFORD — The Milford Arts Council and Milford Pediatric Group invite all city students from kindergarten through high school to submit their original art to the annual student art show scheduled for Nov. 20-Jan. 20 at the Milford Center for the Arts, 40 Railroad Ave. S.

Viewings will be noon-4 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays. Entries may be work that was completed at school, home or other art classes/workshops. Works will be received 4-6 p.m. Nov. 10 and 9-11 a.m. Nov. 11 at the Milford Center for the Arts. Each artist may submit up to two entries, matted, mounted or framed for hanging. Local artists will judge the entries, and cash prizes supported by Milford Pediatric Group will be awarded in four grade levels. Presentation of awards will be Dec. 7.

Winning entries will hang at the Milford Pediatric Group office for one month after the exhibition. All other artwork must be picked up Jan. 26, 27.
