Arnold plans to lead Okenquist to victory
Ralph Okenquist, Republican candidate for Orange first selectman has announced the members of his campaign team.
Karen Arnold, former Town Chairwoman of the Orange Republicans has been named Campaign Manager. Jack Barton has been named treasurer of the Friends of Ralph Okenquist candidate committee, and Joe Marulli will be Campaign Liason to the Orange Republican Town Committee.
Okenquist said he feels fortunate to have been able to assemble such a talented staff.
"Karen, Jack and Joe all have experience in running political campaigns and are well-known and respected residents of Orange. I look forward to working with them and the members of the Orange Republicans to bring positive leadership back to the First Selectmen's office."
On selecting Arnold as his Campaign Manager, Okenquist said he has spent the past month speaking to Republicans, Democrats and Unaffilated voters and they all praise Arnold for the job she did in her three years as republican Town Chairwoman.
"Karen Arnold is respected for her political abilities and her involvement in our schools and community organizations. I'm glad she has accepted the invitation to join my team."
During her tenure as town chairwoman, 29 of the 34 candidates who ran for municipal and state offices were elected.
In 1998 and 2000, Arnold served as campaign chairman for Themis Klarides, the Republican candidate for the 114 District who won her seat.
She is a member of the State Commission on Family Violence, the State Commission on Volunteer Work in the Community and the BOW Commission to study Violence in the Schools.
She is also a member of the Umbrella Group Shelter Services which assists battered women.
Arnold is married to Superior Court Judge Richard E. Arnold. They have two children, Kenny 24 and Lindsey 10.
